A Collaborative Foundation Built to Serve Your Future
GLHN began in Tucson in October 1963, when mechanical engineer Leon A. Dombrowski and architect Irvin E. Finical joined forces to form Finical & Dombrowski, Inc. Their shared purpose was to bring architecture and engineering together to create facilities and infrastructure that positively impact communities. That collaborative foundation continues to shape how GLHN approaches every project.
In 1988, David C. Grigsby, John B. Lynch, Roger B. Harwell, and William I. Nelson took the helm and introduced F&D/GLHN, Inc. The name became GLHN Architects and Engineers, Inc. on July 18, 1991. In 2002, the firm adopted an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, giving its people a direct investment in the quality, service, and accountability every client receives.
That spirit of progress has continued across generations. GLHN earned Southern Arizona’s first LEED for Existing Buildings certification in 2010, opened its Phoenix office in 2015, and installed a 55.5 kW solar array at its Tucson facility in 2023. These milestones reflect how GLHN’s architects and engineers continue to adapt, innovate, and apply their experience to projects throughout Arizona and across the country.
